JorAMCo started operations as Royal Jordanian’s Maintenance and Engineering Department in 1963. Following the government’s decision in October 2000 to privatize and restructure the airline, JorAMCo was officially launched as an independent MRO service provider, offering then a range of airframe maintenance services to Airbus, Boeing and Lockheed aircraft fleets.
JorAMCo was successful later in securing a number of contracts with airline operators around the region, and in 2005 through international bidding process Abraaj Capital, a private equity Investment company based in Dubai, managed to purchase 80% of the JorAMCo’s shares, the balance were retained by the Jordanian Government through Royal Jordanian.
Since then, JorAMCo started an aggressive growth and expansion plan to strengthen its customer base and customer support capability, JorAMCo completed a hangar space expansion which brought the total available hangar space to 30,000 square meters, engaged the services of additional technical staff and certified technicians, increased the range of backshops capacities by setting up partnerships with OEMs and manufacturers , and lunched a modern academy to insure a steady supply and enrolment of fresh and qualified technicians and engineers of the right caliber .
JorAMCo is certified by the Jordanian Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission “JCARC” and by a number of regional and international Aviation Authorities including USA FAA and European EASA - Part 145.
JorAMCo’s airframe maintenance capability cover the Airbus types A300-600, A310-200/300, A319/320/321, A330, A340, Boeing types 727 and 737 (Classic and NG), Embraer 170,190 & 195, Bombardier Q400 and Lockheed L-1011 Tri-Star. Capabilities include heavy maintenance up to and including 12Y/D checks, in addition to structural repairs, ageing aircraft inspection and modification, corrosion prevention and control programme, avionics modifications (EGPWS, ELT, TCAS, etc.) and cabin refurbishment. JorAMCo offers additional engineering and Technical services designed to provide the most essential services for its customers.
